Squamish Locals Ride Year Round
Even the iconic slab trails ride surprisingly well in the wet.
There’s a reason so many pro’s live in Squamish, and its not just the trails
Squamish is at sea level. On average we only have snow in the woods for about 6 week of winter. Despite skiing being 45 minutes away, we ride bikes year round. Squamish is also one of the few places where riding in the rain is a common practice, and still means great dirt. Even the iconic slabs grip well in the wet.
Guaranteed Great Riding,
Not Guaranteed Dry Riding.
Squamish dirt rides great in the wet and our winters are mild so bring a rain jacket and have a time.
If you are in the area give us a call, we are always open to ride and its not unusual to ski and bike in the same week.
Can Be Amazing. But Don’t Plan For It.
Optimal trail conditions, dirt is tacky, days are warm and the town is a little quieter.
The Locals Favourite Riding Months.
Drier, warmer conditions with 10pm sunsets for long days on the bike followed by evening lake dips.
Peak Season, Book Early.
We have 1500m decents and alpine ridge trails but theres only a short window to get them snow free.

Ride BC is Fully Tenured and Permitted
Ride BC proudly holds a provincially granted recreational tenure (licence no. 243382) for the entire Squamish trail network on Crown Land. We are stewards of this beautiful land we call home. We also hold permits for the surrounding provincial parks (Alice Lake and Garibaldi).
1 hour of volunteer trail work for every day we operate.
We are proud to play our part in Squamish’s amazing trail network.
Our Contribution to a Town That’s Given us so Much.
With over 750 trails and counting, The Squamish trail network is the product of countless dedicated volunteer builders. We are proud to play a small part in helping maintain and evolve the network we call home. Some of our work has been multi year permitted new builds, while others are a Tuesday evening maintenance mission. They all play a small part contributing to the network thats given us so much.
Pamplemousse
1.4km . 122m Decent . Black Diamond
Pamplemousse was Ride BC's first major contribution to the Squamish trail network. This 1.4 km black diamond descent quickly became one of the most popular trails in Squamish.
Built as a key arterial trail connecting Alice Lake trails to Alice Lake, with a fast and techy decent. James flagged the initial line and applied for BC parks permits. Once approved, construction became a three-year community effort. James and a core group of friends built much of the trail, with support from public trail days that brought together riders of all ages, from local kids and old Squamish to new Squamish.
Pamplemousse Took a Total of 3,400 Volunteer Hours
In total, 380 community members contributed over 3,400 volunteer hours to the project. When Pamplemousse opened in the fall of 2017, it attracted more than 2,000 riders in its first week and remains one of Squamish's most ridden trails today.

700m . 22m Accent . 54m Decent . Black Diamond.
The Donut was one of Squamish's original mountain bike trails, but had been left mostly unridden, partly due to its hike-a-bike access.
In the summer of 2020, with Ride BC shut down due to Covid, James set out to bring the trail back to life. Technically being maintenance and not a new build ment James didn’t have to wait for the lengthly permit process and could get straight to digging. James built a new climb trail for access as well as a new fast, flowy decent.
The Donut is currently Trailforks' highest-rated trail in Squamish.
The donut has all the hallmarks of a Squamish classics - fast corners, a ton of natural features and of course slabs. The trail finishes with panoramic views over Squamish and offers three exit options slabs - triple, double and single black. The Donut instantly became a bonus trail added to most Alice Lake loops.

400m . 30m Decent . Black Diamond
The lower section of Hybrid passes through a clear-cut, where increased exposure to sun and rain had taken a toll on the trail over time. James completed a full machine rebuild of this section, restoring the trail and improving long-term sustainability.
The project was funded through Pamplemousse Pale Ale, a trail-building initiative created by James to turn the popularity of the Pamplemousse trail into ongoing trail funding. In partnership with Howe Sound Brewing, we crafted a post ride beer with $2 from every six-pack sold going directly toward local trail maintenance and construction.
A Post Ride Beer That Gives Back
Originally created to fund maintenance of Pamplemousse, Pamplemousse Pale Ale was so successful that it went on to fund other trail projects, including the machine rebuild of Lower Hybrid. The beer was in production for four years, created an easy, enjoyable way for locals and tourists to give back.
Watch the story of how a beer came to fund a volunteer trail build. These are just a few of our contributions and with several projects in the works, They are the first of many.
Ride BC was Founded by James in 2015
James has built many trails around Squamish both volunteer and professionally. So naturally he built a business guiding people through the network he loves. James has always been an avid member of the Squamish trails community. as a past director of trails and lead builder for SORCA (Squamish MTB association) He also previously worked as a registered geologist meaning his love of dirt runs deep.
James & son doing
some trail workIn 2017 james added a trail building wing of Ride BC taking on contracts both local and international. His decade of digging experience combined with guiding work means James understands trails form the perspective of all rider abilities.
James will be the one answering all your questions so book today or shoot him a message.
